A Message from a Citizen to Abdulhamid Dbeibah: Step Down Before the Disaster!!
To Mr. Abdulhamid Dbeibah,
Greetings,
Away from the titles you hear from your visitors, your guests, and your sycophants and beyond the state, fantasies, ambitions, and strategies of your family stripped from what you believe about yourself allow me to borrow a moment of time to tell you what you may not hear while surrounded by all the above.
I am not appointing myself today as a judge of your intentions, nor do I possess that right neither in fact nor metaphor.
But as a citizen, I have not seen any real step you have taken tied to your fundamental task.
You offered us a governance experience where corruption spread, injustice dominated, and a class of profiteers armed groups and others expanded.
The channels to see our needs were shut, and even our children were denied their daily bread.
And we by God do not eat roads and bridges, nor heal with roundabouts and gardens, nor does our economy rise by distributing iPhones to your admirers.
Therefore, please step down before the disaster.
I do not see you possessing real authority over those you claim follow the state, nor do I see them as anything but ready to abandon you the moment white smoke rises from the chimney of international will and the name of your successor is announced over the ruins of Libyans’ suffering.
At that moment, you will find yourself wandering the alleys of Tripoli without rescuer or protector.
You have a lesson in those before you.Do not listen to them, nor lean on their reassurance.
We have seen with our own eyes how their skins change in this dark decade you will not be the last, nor more precious than those before you.
Therefore, please step down before the disaster.
You know very well that you do not hold actual control over Tripoli, let alone the rest of the western region.
And power as you know numbs its holder and blinds his vision.
So do not be deceived, and do not accept becoming a laughingstock for everyone who meets you, internally or externally.
They see you exactly as I tell you now: a prime minister over (three streets, five ministries, and ten bridges).
So spare yourself and do not be recorded in history as someone removed from power like a rotted tooth reaching the nerve!
Therefore, please step down before the disaster.
Everyone who profited behind you and fed off your name is today eager for you to continue playing the role of prime minister.
For the corruption and plunder that happened under your rule have not been seen in Libya since the Knights Templar invaded Tripoli!
And today they tempt you with words like “everyone is with us.”
You have a lesson in Al-Tayyeb Al-Safi and his commander his commander died while Al-Tayyeb Al-Safi is still rolling around in the money stolen from this people’s livelihood.
And you were never their duckling, and Al-Tayyeb knows this well!!
So learn from those before you.
Therefore, please step down before the disaster.
Any bloody adventure inside Tripoli to eliminate your opponents will fail simply because its people are not with you.
They may not be with your rivals either but they certainly refuse your continuation.
History has proven time and again that whoever loses their social base loses everything.
And however long the war lasts if it erupts it will be written in your name, while Tripoli survives as always and you will harvest nothing but ruin.
Ask your partners in “Arkano” what happened to them when they tried to rule it by force.
History will judge you, and Libyans including myself will judge you for what you have done, whether good or evil.
I possess nothing before you except this text.
If they advise you to arrest me, defame me, or label my words as hostility that will change nothing of truth.
So have mercy on yourself, and spare this land from further suffering.
Perhaps its people will remember this stance for you. They have done so before. So suffice with what has been, and avoid what may be for therein lies what is good for you and for them.
Signed: A Citizen (except for ten minutes)
