Can the Gene of ‘Subservience’ in the Libyan Character be Treated?
History tells us that humans unified under a king before unifying under a god, which happened before Christ. However, it seems that even after the unification under a god, the genes of some humans continued to worship their rulers, albeit with some modifications to the method of worship. A genetic mutation occurred in the gene for self-worship at the level of methods, with very clever additions compared to the ways used by ancient humans.
Despite humanity reaching a stage in its journey on this planet where it values and honors itself, drawing this reverence from religions, philosophy, and natural evolution, which has elevated the human soul from lowliness, surrounding it with a circle of ethics and values that elevate it above other creatures on the planet, given that humans possess a mind that distinguishes them, enabling them to rule the planet, humanity has reached a set of standards that must be met to call oneself a human being. Without these standards, one is merely a living creature, potentially at the lowest end of the genetic sequence of living beings on Earth.
Like my peers from this great generation, we opened our eyes to songs glorifying a person we initially did not realize was a human like us, given the number of songs and anthems that praised and worshipped him day and night. Mentioning him positively was a sign of salvation, success, dignity, and elevation, and loving him was a clear expression of patriotism, as he and the nation were one. Everyone who loved him was patriotic, and everyone who disliked him was a traitor. This person’s love and glorification were ingrained from birth, shared by your father and grandfather, as he was the father and the head of the family. After a short period, you realize he has human features and characteristics, raising an initial question within you: “Doesn’t this being look human like me?” After a while, you decide to voice this question, and as soon as you ask it to any human like yourself, you get slapped, and you are told, “Be silent, may God curse you. He is not a human like us; he is something indescribable!”
Gradually, you are taught that salvation lies in being close to him, elevation under his feet, elegance in his attire, wealth in his inner circle, excellence in his knowledge, progress in his path, and disgrace and shame in opposing him. Treason to the nation is saying he is human like us, and everything belongs to him; he certainly controls your present and future, thus you are him, and he is you, but he does not resemble you!
You try to resist this reality; there are still questions disturbing your life. “Isn’t he human like me? How do I submit to a human like me? Didn’t they teach me in school and at home that slavery is for God alone, and that all these attributes belong solely to Him, and no one else should embody them?” You find no answers to these unauthorized questions among those you live with, and your natural instinct tries to drive you to respect yourself, telling you that you are honored by your Creator, and you have the right to question, object, think, and speak. You try to rephrase the question in hopes of getting an answer: “Is this person who doesn’t resemble me a human?” They tell you that his outward appearance is human, but he is not an ordinary human; he is an extraordinary human. So you naively, yet instinctively, ask, “How can a human be an extraordinary human like him?” After asking this question, you will find revolutionary committees, internal security, and the air, naval, and land forces surrounding your house, saying someone in this house is attempting to think, and this behavior has betrayed the nation. We must isolate him from the rest of the herd to prevent spreading his contagion, for treason is contagious!
You then enter a place called prison, which is actually the only place that truly expresses freedom. You will find others like you inside, many accused of thinking and asking questions, and you will realize in that place that you are human just like the one they told you is not an ordinary human. You will understand then that thinking and questioning is what makes you human, and that no one has the eternal right to rule you by force, that God is in the heavens, not on earth, and that sanctity belongs to Him alone, and no human walking on this planet is infallible, and everyone makes mistakes, and your dignity is protected just by being human. You will realize that dignity is more important than food and drink because it distinguishes you from other creatures, and the nation belongs to you and your peers, and the president is just an employee authorized by the people to manage your affairs, and he is not to be worshipped but followed and held accountable for his performance. You will know you are a source of authority, and authority is not something inherited with humans but acquired through a system, and this system is defined by you and your peers, not imposed on you by any human like you. You will learn many standards that will make you human for the first time.
You won’t stay long in this place, as they will release you, believing you have been cured of the illness, or so they think, to return to your peers and tell them what you learned inside the prison. They will look at you in astonishment, and they will likely call a sheikh, suspecting that you have been possessed by a jinn, as what you say is not human speech. This sheikh will recite to you chants like “Teach us, O leader, how to achieve our future” and “Long live Khalifa, long live Khalifa, Benghazi has not seen his equal.” You refuse the treatment and insist on your opinion, lovingly requesting to be returned to prison, having realized that you live among humans carrying the gene of ‘subservience.’ To this day, science has not found a way to remove a gene from a human, so you request to be returned to prison, the only place filled with humans!
